Fractal Love

Inspired by fractals, I recently incorporated them into a LOOMLAB scarf.

What is a fractal? By definition (thank you Wikipedia) A
fractal is "a rough or fragmented geometric shape that can be split into parts, each of which is (at least approximately) a reduced-size copy of the whole."

Interested in generating your own fractals? Make your own fractals by downloading this amazing program (written by Duncan Chambray) http://www.pbase.com/duncanc/fractal_images

Images below are highlights from Duncan's flickr group, highlighting fractal artists. http://www.flickr.com/search/?w=all&q=fractalworks&m=text

And for the nerd in all off us...listen to Mandelbrot Set by Jonathan Coulton ;-)

Glass Jar Terrariums

Obsessed with terrariums - can't wait to go to the Pasadena Rose Bowl Flea Market tomorrow to get some charming vintage apothecary jars so we can make some! Thanks to DWELL and Kelly Malone's WORKSHOP, they put together a very informative how-to slide-show explaining how to make your own terrarium! And if you don't have any extra mason jars, wine glasses work great too!

Sonic Fabric Factory

Created and developed by Alyce Santoro, she called her creation both "a durable versatile audible textile" and "a somewhat unwitting invention."
